On-call support

ResicareSA runs a three-bedroom SIL home in Whyalla Jenkins and a four-bedroom SIL home in Port Augusta. Both are also listed for Short Term and Medium Term Accommodation, which in the Upper Spencer Gulf often matters as much as the long-term rooms: a planned respite stay or a bridge while a permanent home is arranged is otherwise a four-hour drive away.

Whyalla and Port Augusta are an hour apart, and the two households share an on-call manager so that neither depends on Adelaide for a decision at 2 am. Support workers are local. Port Pirie, Quorn and Stirling North are reached from these two bases.

Questions about the Upper Spencer Gulf

Is there a SIL vacancy in Whyalla right now?

The Whyalla Jenkins home page shows its current status. Rooms in regional homes tend to be filled through word of mouth before they are advertised, so if you are looking, call and we will tell you what is coming up.

Can the Port Augusta home be used for respite?

Yes. It is listed for Short Term Accommodation when a room is free, and for Medium Term Accommodation for someone waiting on a permanent home. Both are funded from Assistance with Daily Life when they are in the plan.

Do regional price loadings apply?

Whyalla and Port Augusta fall under the NDIS regional pricing classification, which allows a loading on some supports. Your quote states the exact rate used and which line in the Pricing Arrangements it comes from.
