The NDIS

Understanding your plan, before you spend it

The National Disability Insurance Scheme funds the supports you need to live independently. Here is how eligibility, funding and housing fit together.

Benefits of registering with the NDIS

The NDIS is making a profound impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities throughout Australia. Working alongside registered providers, it gives participants funded choice over the supports they use, the people who deliver them and the place they live.

ResicareSA takes pride in its part in that scheme. We hold the registration, the staffing and the housing, so a participant can move from an approved plan to a supported home without stitching together three separate providers.

Four steps from plan to home

  1. Step 1

    Check eligibility

Under 65, citizen or permanent resident, permanent and significant disability.

  2. Step 2

    Build the plan

Set goals with your planner, including where and how you want to live.

  3. Step 3

    Confirm funding

SIL for support hours, SDA for the dwelling, core supports for everyday life.

  4. Step 4

    Find the home

Shortlist vacancies, meet the household, then move in with support in place.

Common questions

Am I eligible for the NDIS?

You generally need to be under 65, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects your everyday activities. We can walk you through an access request before you apply.

What is the difference between SIL and SDA?

SIL funds the support workers who help you day to day. SDA funds the dwelling itself, and only applies to purpose-built housing for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Many participants have SIL only.

Can I choose who I live with?

Yes. We arrange a compatibility meet before any move-in, and we share what we can about the household without publishing identifying details about existing residents.

How quickly can a placement happen?

Where a room is vacant and funding is in place, a placement can move in a matter of days. Where a plan review or SDA approval is needed, we work with your coordinator on the timeline.

Do you support people outside metropolitan South Australia?

Yes. We operate across country South Australia and the Adelaide metro area, including Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie and the Copper Coast.
