SIL is the support, not the building
The single most common misunderstanding in NDIS housing. SIL funds the staff who help you at home. SDA funds the house itself. They are different line items, and most people only need the first.
SIL — Supported Independent Living
Funds the people.
- Pays for support workers in the home
- Covers daily living, personal care, overnight and 24/7 support
- Most people who need help at home have this and nothing else
- Can be delivered in your own home or one of ours
SDA — Specialist Disability Accommodation
Funds the building.
- Pays for a purpose-built or modified dwelling
- Covers design features like hoists, reinforced walls and accessible bathrooms
- Only a small proportion of participants are eligible
- Always paired with SIL — the building does not provide the support

Common questions
Do I need SDA to get support at home?
No. SDA funds a specialist dwelling and only a small number of participants qualify for it. If you have SIL funding, we can staff a home you already live in.
How is SIL priced?
A SIL quote is built from the roster the household actually needs — how many hours, how many people, and whether nights are active or sleepover. We build the quote with you and your coordinator before anything is agreed.
Can I choose who I live with?
Yes. We arrange a compatibility meet before any move-in, and the people already living in the house have a say too. We never publish identifying details about current residents.
What if my needs change?
Rosters are reviewed with the household. If support needs go up or down, the SIL quote is adjusted at your next plan review — or sooner if it is urgent.
