Innovative Community Participation

The usual group programs do not suit you and you want something built around your own goal.

ResicareSA holds the Innov Community Participation registration, which funds something narrower than it sounds: supports designed around one person's goal when the standard group programs do not reach it. We deliver it across the Adelaide metro area and the country regions we work in, and it usually starts with a conversation about what you want to be doing rather than what we already run.

Not every goal fits a group program. Innovative community participation funds supports designed around one person's specific goal — usually something skill-building, community-based, and not available off the shelf.

In practice this looks like a support worker with the right background helping you pursue a particular interest to the point where it becomes real: getting into a mainstream sporting club rather than a disability-specific one, building a small enterprise or market stall, working towards a volunteer role you actually want, developing a creative practice, or learning the specific technology you need to take part in something.

These supports are written as a goal with a defined outcome, not an open-ended activity. We agree what you are working towards and what progress looks like before we start, and review it with you as it goes.

  • Joining a mainstream club, team or interest group with support to stay in it.
  • Building towards a volunteer or work-like role.
  • Developing a creative or artistic practice.
  • Assistive technology and digital skills for community participation.
  • Small enterprise, market stall or micro-business goals.
  • Individually designed programs with an agreed outcome and review.
