ResicareSA delivers support in people's own homes across the Adelaide metro area and the country towns we work in — Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Kadina, Wallaroo and Mount Barker. It is the same workforce that staffs our 24 homes: employed by us rather than booked through an agency, which is what makes it possible to send the same small group of people to the same person rather than whoever is free.
In-home support is not a registration group of its own. It is the personal care and household registrations delivered at your address instead of in one of our houses, which means the same standards, the same training and the same registration apply — and you can check them on the Commission's register.
What that covers in practice: help with showering, dressing, toileting and medication; the housework that keeps a place running, including laundry, shopping and meals; and getting out to the things you want to get out to. Support can be a couple of hours a week or several visits a day, and it is written down with you as a support plan before anyone starts.
Two things we do not do, because it saves a wasted call. We do not carry out home modifications — that is a separate NDIS registration we do not hold, and you would need a registered builder for it. And we are not a nursing agency, though our Registered Nurses do train and competency-assess the support workers who come to you, and community nursing is available separately where it is funded.
- Showering, dressing, toileting and personal hygiene.
- Medication prompting and support.
- Meal preparation, cooking and help with eating and drinking.
- Cleaning, laundry, linen and general household tasks.
- Shopping, errands and help managing a household budget.
- Getting to appointments, work, study and community activities.
- Overnight support, including sleepover and active overnight where funded.
- A written support plan, and the same small team of workers wherever we can manage it.
