Registered NDIS provider in South Australia
What our registration covers, and how to check it yourself.
What “registered” actually means
Any provider can be paid from an NDIS plan. A registered one has been audited against the NDIS Practice Standards by an approved quality auditor, and sits under the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission for complaints, worker screening and reportable incidents. ResicareSA has been delivering services in South Australia since 2020.
Registration is not one approval. The Commission approves a provider for specific registration groups, and a provider may only deliver supports inside the groups it holds. That is the part worth checking before you commit a plan to anyone — a provider can be genuinely registered and still be outside its scope for the support you actually need.
Whether you have to use a registered provider depends on how your plan is managed. NDIA-managed plans must use registered providers. If you are plan-managed or self-managed you may use either, and registration becomes a question of what assurance you want rather than what you are permitted to do.
The 16 registration groups we hold
These are printed in the Commission's own wording rather than ours, so you can match them line for line against the public register. Our services pages say what each one means in practice.

How to check us on the register
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission publishes a register of every registered provider, searchable by name or ABN.
Search ABN 97 806 653 206. That is The Trustee for Resicare SA Family Trust, which is the entity the registration is held under. ResicareSA Pty Ltd, ABN 43 635 884 454, is the trading company and acts as trustee for it. Searching the trading ABN will not return the registration — that is the usual reason a coordinator concludes we are not registered when we are.
What our registration does not cover
Registration is a scope, not a badge, and being straight about the edges of ours saves a wasted referral. We are not behaviour support practitioners: we do not assess behaviour or write Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
We do not assess or diagnose disability. Access to the scheme, functional assessments and diagnoses are the work of health and allied health professionals — no support provider, registered or not, decides them.
We do not deliver allied health or therapeutic supports such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology or speech pathology, and we do not provide early childhood supports. Our nursing sits under Community Nursing Care and is delivered by Registered Nurses, who also train our support workers on participant-specific clinical tasks and assess their competency.
We are not NDIS planners. We can help you prepare for a planning meeting and explain how a support would be funded, but your plan and its funding are decided by the NDIA.
Behaviour support, and restrictive practices
We work alongside behaviour support practitioners rather than employing them. Where a participant has a Positive Behaviour Support Plan written by an authorised practitioner, our workers are trained on that plan and deliver support in line with it, and we stay in contact with the practitioner, the support coordinator and the participant's family so the support stays consistent.
Where such a plan authorises a regulated restrictive practice, we implement it in accordance with the relevant requirements and report as required. We say that plainly because a provider claiming never to use restrictive practices is either not delivering the supports we deliver, or is not telling you the whole truth. What matters is that any practice of that kind is authorised, recorded in a behaviour support plan, used as a last resort and reduced over time. We do not apply one outside an authorised plan.
If you are comparing providers
Ask any provider for its registration groups rather than whether it is registered, and check them yourself. Ask who employs the support workers — we employ ours rather than subcontracting, so the person who arrives is accountable to the organisation you signed with. Ask what happens when a worker calls in sick. Ask how a complaint is handled, and who hears it.
If a support you need sits outside our registration, we will say so and point you to someone who holds it.
Common questions
How do I check whether a provider is registered with the NDIS?
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission publishes a register of registered providers, searchable by name or ABN. Check the registration groups listed against the support you need, not just that the provider appears — a provider may only deliver supports inside the groups it holds. For ResicareSA, search ABN 97 806 653 206.
Do I have to use a registered NDIS provider?
If your plan is NDIA-managed, yes. If you are plan-managed or self-managed you may use registered or unregistered providers, so registration becomes a question of what assurance you want rather than what you are allowed to do.
What is the difference between a registered and an unregistered provider?
A registered provider has been audited against the NDIS Practice Standards by an approved quality auditor and is subject to the Commission's oversight, including complaints handling, worker screening and reportable incidents. An unregistered provider is still bound by the NDIS Code of Conduct, but is not audited against the Practice Standards.
Which registration groups does ResicareSA hold?
16, listed in full on this page — personal care and high-intensity personal care, household tasks, travel and transport, Supported Independent Living, Specialised Disability Accommodation, daily tasks in a shared home, accommodation and tenancy assistance, community participation, innovative community participation, group and centre activities, life skills, life stage transition, community nursing, support coordination and plan management.
Does ResicareSA provide behaviour support?
We implement behaviour support plans; we do not write them. We hold no behaviour support registration group and employ no behaviour support practitioners. Where a participant has a Positive Behaviour Support Plan written by an authorised practitioner, our workers are trained on it and support the participant in line with it, working alongside that practitioner.
Does ResicareSA use restrictive practices?
Where a participant's authorised behaviour support plan provides for a regulated restrictive practice, we implement it in accordance with the relevant requirements and report as required. It is used only where authorised and recorded in that plan, as a last resort, and worked down over time. We do not apply a restrictive practice outside an authorised plan.
Do you support people outside Adelaide?
Yes. We work across the Adelaide metro area and regional South Australia, including Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, the Copper Coast, Wallaroo and Mount Barker.
