Respite and short-term accommodation with rooms available
A short stay in one of these homes is funded as Short Term Accommodation (STA) from the Assistance with Daily Life budget in your NDIS plan. Since the 2026-27 pricing schedule the claim covers the accommodation and the hours of support; food is agreed separately. Most stays are a few days to two weeks, and the NDIS guidance allows up to 14 days at a time and 28 days a year unless your plan says otherwise.
Emergency respite, when a carer is suddenly unavailable, is handled by phone. Call us and we will tell you within the hour whether a room is available tonight.
Questions about Respite and STA vacancies
Is respite the same as STA?
Under the NDIS, respite is funded as Short Term Accommodation. The word respite is still used for stays whose main purpose is to give a carer a break, and STA for stays that are about trying new routines or independence. Same funding line either way.
Can I book respite in a home that also has long-term residents?
Yes, where a room is free and the household agrees. We check compatibility before any stay, because the people already living there have a say.
Do you offer emergency respite?
Yes, subject to a room being free and the person's needs being ones we can meet safely at short notice. Call rather than enquire online for anything urgent.
